Shepherd
At The Gate
|
|
| I had an interesting experience with a lost sheep one day. It illustrated clearly the difference between the broad road and the narrow gate and the ultimate consequence. | My sheep know who I am, but they don't really know me very well because we do not have a personal relationship like the sheep in biblical times. What does this mean? |
| Sometimes unruly sheep in my flock must be sold to prevent them from leading others astray. Are there not parallel situations for us, especially when we consider who influences our children? | Among the different classes of sheep at Psalm 23 Camp, my lambs get the very best pasture. And, there is good reason why they get the best. What about the spiritual needs of our children? |
|
My
sheep do know my voice, but they do not always come when I call. There
is a parallel between sheep and people as to why they only come at certain
times.
|
Persistance and patience was
necessary to train my 8-year old son to train a dog an important command
that would be valuable for herding our flock of sheep. How different is
it to train others to descipleship to the Lord Jesus Christ?

One
day while working with three Border Collies giving separate directions
to each gave me an idea as to why Christians and/or church groups do not
work together very well.
|
Training our Border Collie
sheep-herding dogs has shown me some things regarding our relationship
to our Lord, particularly the importance of obediance.
|
| An important aspect of sheep managment is to have a group of sheep that flock, or stay together as a group. This has important implications in our Christian life. | Be they good grasses or bad weeds the plants found in a pasture field reflect the conditions for growth of the same. We should make careful analysis of the conditions that grow cultural trends. What conditions do we Christians provide? |
