From its inception in 1985 Psalm 23 Camp has been a family operated camp located on our 300-acre family farm. I am the fourth generation to live on the farm. After I spent about 20 years in academia we returned to the home farm to raise sheep in 1982.
My wife, Glenda Martin Rowan also has a farm background. She was born near Hunter, N.D. and spent her first eight years there before her family moved to Missouri where they continued to farm. We don't sponsor a Rowan and Martin Laugh In, but we do think laughter is part of a healthy Christian life.
Our daughter Michelle Lloyd Miller, also helped with the camp during some of the early years working for part of a few summers before she began raising a family of her own. She and husband Joel, both graduates of Berea College, now have three children, Jewel, Levi, and Asa.
Our youngest son Mark Rowan accepted Jesus Christ as his savior in July 1985 at the first camp. He was eight years old at that time and became a participant/worker at every camp through the 1998 camp season (between Junior and Senior years in college). Mark is married to the former Jenny Marie Lee and both are graduates of Liberty University. Mark is a director of Internet web content for several web sites and has designed the web pages you will find here at this site.
Glenda and I have a keen interest in the land, America's rich history in agriculture, its rich Christian heritage, and we believe the farm is a great place for both farm and non-farm people to visit.
Additional information about the history of the camp can be found at Camp History. The following pages, About Sheep Tracks and About The Chute., also have additional background information.
Thanks for visiting our web site and if you get the opportunity, come visit our farm/camp.
In His service,
Dennis Rowan
